Senior Physiotherapy Support Worker

Job summary

We are currently seeking a Senior Physiotherapy Support Worker to join our dynamic therapy team at Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust.

We are pleased to offer a full-time position (37.5 hours per week) based at Worcestershire Royal Hospital.

We are looking for an individual who is dedicated to delivering the highest standard of care to our patients, who demonstrates compassion, reliability, and a strong commitment to supporting effective rehabilitation within a multidisciplinary team.

Previous experience as a therapy assistant or in a rehabilitation role is essential; only applicants who meet this criterion will be considered.

A knowledge of exercise therapy and human anatomy is also desirable and would be highly advantageous.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will assist physiotherapists in delivering treatments across a variety of inpatient specialities. Duties will include delivering treatments, exercise programmes and mobilising patients to achieve a safe discharge.

Working as part of the physiotherapy team, to provide quality therapeutic care through the delivery of specified assessment and treatment programmes to a limited patient group, as directed by the senior therapist. This will involve working unsupervised and at times will involve working with both qualified and unqualified staff including Physiotherapy assistants. To assess, treat and progress simple treatment of patients in line with competencies set and assessed by the Senior Physiotherapist and to use this knowledge to contribute to effective discharge planning as part of the Multi-disciplinary Team.

To provide clerical and administrative support to qualified staff and students and to undertake delegated housekeeping and stock control tasks.

To participate in the weekend service. The speciality dependant on experience. This service may include the treatment of children. Working hours will be dependent upon the service provided within each speciality, this may include 7 day working or participation in a relevant weekend/bank holiday rota.
