Worcester Royal Hospital is looking
for highly motivated and dedicated Theatre Practitioners to join our dynamic
Operating Theatre Team.
Worcester Theatres
specialise in complex, acute care surgery.You will join our skilled and
compassionate workforce to provide essential patient centred care and support
colleagues to deliver a safe, high-quality countywide service.
You will
participate and provide services for a range of surgical specialities
including; Gynaecology, General, Upper GI, Maxilla-Facial, ENT, Trauma and
Orthopaedics, Vascular and Obstetric and Paediatric specialities.
This post does
require you to work a combination of shift patterns including days, nights,
weekends and on-calls. Part-time and flexible working will be considered
dependant on experience and subject to managers approval.
Main duties of the job
To assist with the anaesthetic and recovery patient journey ensuring safe, efficient, and compassionate care.
Ensure patient care is delivered safely and in line with best practice.
Manage post-operative complications, including airway management, pain control, and vital sign monitoring.

Manage post-operative complications, including airway management, pain control, and vital sign monitoring.
Management
Ensure that all safety measures are in place, reporting accidents, incidents, and near misses to the theatre coordinator and/or senior team leader and reported on the electronic reporting system.
Foster a supportive, team-focused culture that encourages learning, development, and a no-blame approach.
Manage controlled drugs in line with legal procedures, including ordering, checking, and administering according to policy.
Education and Training:
Supervise, mentor, and support new staff, ensuring they are introduced to relevant clinical practices and procedures.

- Experience of working as part of a team
- Previous experience of working in the perioperative environment in a training or support worker role or other relatable clinical environment (i.e. endoscopy, HDU)
Desirable
- Competent to scrub / assist anaesthetist / recover wide range of elective and emergency patients
- Experience of clinical supervision

- Enhanced disclosure clearance
- Excellent attendance and time keeping
- Willing to work across hospital sites within scope of practice as and when required
- Able to work and cope with rotating shift patterns - early, late, night shifts over seven days of the week and on-call as necessary
