An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced RN and
ACP to join the Corporate Nursing Team in a fixed term 12-month secondment to
the role of Lead ACP.
The successful applicant will have proven experience at 8a
level or above, both in strategic and clinical roles. They will have
excellent communication skills and be registered as a non-medical
prescriber.
They will support Corporate Nursing team, and provide professional leadership for all ACP's within the Trust.

Main duties of the job
The Trust ACP Programme Lead for Advanced Clinical Practice (ACPs) will provide
professional leadership to all identified ACP work programmes across the relevant ICS organisational
partners and the Acute Trust inclusive of all revelant professional backgrounds.

The ICS & Trust ACP Programme Lead for Advanced Clinical Practice (ACPs) will provide
professional leadership to all identified ACP work programmes across the relevant ICS organisational
partners and the Acute Trust inclusive of all relevant professional backgrounds.
The ICS & Trust ACP Programme Lead will champion the ACP professional roles as a key workforce
group in the delivery of integrated care, new ways of working, and new ways to deliver healthcare
The post holder with the support of the Deputy Chief Nurses, Leads for Nursing and Midwifery,
Pharmacy and Medical workforce as well as other clinical service managers will lead working in
collaboration for the strategic and operational education & workforce development of the Advanced
Clinical Practice professional role.
They will develop a multiprofessional network of highly skilled autonomous practitioners capable of
delivering the Trust and other ICS provider organisational objectives within their aligned Clinical
Strategy.
The post holder will proactively engage and work with national and local higher educational providers
to assess, develop and plan to deliver enhanced ACP education programmes to assure the
competency, capability & wellbeing of our ACP workforce. This will also assure ACPs to be capable
to adopt independent autonomous clinical practice within and across specialities.
Working with identified ICS provider organisation clinical leads responsible for their ACPs, the post
holder will have oversight of the ongoing appraisal of skills and competencies of all ACPs across the
ICS system as well as for the WAHT in more detail in line with ACP governance framework and
regulatory standards.
Working with the leadership teams in Clinical directorates, the post holder will advise on job planning
and ACP development, enabling groups to provide safe and high quality patient care contributing to
the successful delivery of the Trusts Clinical Strategy.
Reporting into the ICS Academy Steering Group, the ACP programme Lead will work with all
associated ICS Academy Education Faculties; assessing, working in partnership and reporting on all
ACP education, role development, workforce planning and recruitment. The ACP Work Programme
is a key cross cutting programme that works across the variety of Faculties, e.g nursing, midwifery,
medical and pharmacy.
The post holder will establish an inclusive set of Communities of Practice and Clinical Supervision
spaces for ACPs across clinical professions to collaboratively learn, develop and support each other
Within the post holders Acute Trust remit, they will reporting into the CNO/CMO; appraising the Trust
Academy Steering Group, Trust Board and Trust Management Executive of all matters relating to
Advanced Clinical Practice.
The post holder will adopt a programme management planning and reporting approach; assuring
agreed sub project and work stream milestones are met; reporting risks and mitigating actions.
The post holder will work in partnership with relevant higher education providers as well as the
healthcare provider organisations to devise ACP career frameworks to assure succession planning,
talent maximisation and succession planning.
Key Duties:
Clinical
To deliver and participate in the clinical care of patients whilst providing a level of advanced and
comprehensive clinical assessment to all age groups, for all types of presentation.
Responsibilities for the management of patients within own caseload and the supervision and
development of trainee ACPs within the wider multidisciplinary team.
To contribute to the development and improvement of systems and processes that improve patient
flow whilst operating under the auspices of the internal professional standards to ensure the delivery
of safe, effective care in a timely fashion.
Maintain own clinical development by keeping up to date with new treatments, technologies,
guidelines and pathways. Practice with confidence and competence within NMC Guidelines, or those
of an equivalent regulatory body.
Ensure person centred care and family and carer collaboration and where appropriate promote
maintenance of health, well-being and independence.
Ensure that adult safeguarding procedures are adhered to within own practice and service.
Undertake the role of Independent Prescriber within the clinical setting, within scope of professional
practice.
Involvement in peer reviews of own practice and that of others.

Work with Group and service leads to devise appropriate job plans for ACPs.
Develop and implement a trust wide ACP forum for sharing practice and peer support.
Oversee the clinical training programmes for trainee ACPs.
Lead recruitment events to attract qualified and trainee ACPs across all teams, specialties and
professions.
Work with HR colleagues and corporate care Groups to develop strategies for improving retention
of ACPs.
Develop a strategy for supporting internal development of junior professionals towards trainee ACP
status.
Undertake measures to ensure Advanced Practice is an accessible career for all regardless of
protected characteristics.
Provide professional and operational leadership and support to Advanced Clinical Practitioners,
undertaking annual appraisal, ensuring safe and equitable practice across the organisation.
Work collaboratively with medical colleagues to ensure all areas have advanced clinical oversight
appropriate to the needs of the clinical area.
Support ACP specific quality improvement initiatives as required within Trust
Act as a role model to trainee ACPs by being an advocate for the patient and providing holistic, patientcentred care whilst seeking to improve the quality of patient experience
To coordinate and provide leadership for the Advanced Clinical Practitioner team and champion their
views within the Trust senior leadership.
Manage development pathways and ensure that all trainee ACPs comply with University-based
requirements for the Masters in Advanced Practice, and where this is not being met, to manage the
process for non-progression.
Maintain professional registration and CDP requirements in preparation for revalidation.
Take a proactive role in shaping the development of service and pathways engaging where
appropriate with external agencies and commissioners.
Identify and lead changes in practice and service delivery in accordance with evidence based
standards and policy, challenging traditional boundaries and current thinking; and overcoming
resistance and conflict at the Trust and local and national level.
Interpret and evaluate information from diverse sources to make informed judgements about its
quality, appropriateness for practice and service delivery.
Be responsible for maintain and disseminating knowledge and expertise within the Trust.
Seize opportunities to apply new knowledge to their own and others practice in structured ways, which
are capable of evaluation.

Develop and coordinate clinical practice components of ACP educational pathways. Support CPD
