Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join and be a part of the growing Worcestershire Macmillan Living with and Beyond Cancer (LWBC) Team as a Support Worker helping to facilitate the delivery of the personalised care agenda.

Main duties of the job

The candidate will have some experience of working within a healthcare environment.

The role will require the candidate to assist with the delivery of Cancer Information, Education, and Health and Wellbeing days and provide support to people affected by cancer as well as other health professional and volunteers.

The successful candidate will have excellent IT, organisational and communication skills, be able to work using their own initiative to prioritise their workload, work well under pressure to meet regular deadlines, and have a sensitive approach to the work. The ability to work independently and as part of a team is essential.

Please note that due to the nature of the role, it is fully site based.

Job Purpose

The post-holder will work as part of the Macmillan Person Centred follow up team to underpin the delivery of cancer information, education and support to people affected by cancer as well as staff and volunteers. They will support clinical staff and other health care professionals to deliver the Personalised Care Agenda.

Key Duties

To support the Macmillan Person Centred follow up team and volunteers in providing appropriate information and support for cancer patients, their families, friends and carers throughout the pathway of care

To support the development and implementation of a recruitment and training programme for volunteers within the service

To encourage and help the volunteers to deliver appropriate support for anyone dealing with cancer

With the support of volunteers, ensure that information materials are correctly catalogued and displayed and that the service is kept well stocked with a uniform system of ordering stock and materials across the Trust

Collaborate and communicate with other departments within the hospital to facilitate high quality, timely and joined up care
