Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and
enthusiastic individual to join our Acute Oncology Team at Worcestershire Acute
Hospitals trust as a Nurse Practitioner. This is a 12 month fixed term part time with 28.5 hours per week post covering maternity leave within our team of 7 Acute oncology Nurse
practitioners.
We aim to provide an individualised and supportive 7-day
service for patients who are unwell following treatment for cancer specialised
care for oncology and haematology patients. We review patients county-wide
either as an in-patient or in our Acute Oncology Assessment bay based at
Worcester.
We are looking for a nurse who is chemotherapy trained
and has experience in triage of the sick oncology/haematology patient. The
ability to communicate effectively with all members of the multidisciplinary
team is essential. You will be supported in this post by the Advanced Nurse
Practitioner/Service Lead, and the Oncology/Haematology Matron.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide a specialist clinical role in
facilitating high quality care for acute oncology patients.
The post holder will share the management of the Trust-wide AOS
with the other AOS Nurse Practitioners in the team with individual key
responsibilities on a rotational basis.
When clinically appropriate the post holder will undertake
assessment and review of acute oncology / haematology patients within the Acute
Trust.
The post holder will be expected to provide cover for the acute
oncology service (nursing) on the Alexandra and Worcester Royal Hospital sites.
Co-ordinating and facilitating seamless delivery of care for acute
oncology and haematology patients.
Education and training of staff to ensure robust pathways of care.
As a member of the AOS team maintain compliance with the quality
surveillance measures relevant to the service
Practice and service development encompassing audit, research,
innovation and evaluation.
To work collaboratively, using specialist knowledge and skills, to
help develop and deliver services across organisational, professional and
geographical boundaries.
