Job summary

The NMTR coordinator is an integral member of our team. You will have responsibility for collecting a broad range of clinical and outcome data relating to Trauma admissions and enter the data on to the National Major Trauma Registry.

You will be expected to work closely with colleagues to achieve submission deadlines and ensure high quality data for national quarterly dashboards, peer review assessment and other relevant accreditations, audits and research projects.

Main duties of the job

    • To provide accurate collection of data for all major trauma patients, in preparation for submission of data to NMTR
    • To ensure that all NMTR eligible patient details are submitted within 40 days of discharge
    • To interpret and consolidate information from multiple sources to ensure a complete and accurate patient record on NMTR
    • Responsible for the accurate and timely entry of Trauma data onto the NMTR database. Identifying issues and ensuring that they are resolved by liaising with clinical and management teams, both within the Emergency Department and across the wider Trust.
    • Compilation and dissemination of information to support clinical teams in managing performance and adapting clinical practices.
    • Provide data to other information users at all levels throughout the Trust and to appropriate external users as instructed.
    • Carry out ad-hoc analysis of data as requested by staff throughout the Trust ensuring understanding of data provided and advising of its appropriate use as needed.
    • Assist the Trust in its auditing information systems for the accurate recording of all patient activity.
    • Validate and assess the standard of data making corrections, advising of findings and carrying out further investigations of issues, working with appropriate Trust Managers.

  • Ensure all processes have written current procedures and that they are followed and maintained at all times.

  • Cover the work of colleagues during periods of absence or peak workloads.

  • Participate in appropriate training and development activities, to include specific software training to ensure continued development of IT skills.
