Job summary
Due to the retirement of the current post holder we are looking to recruit a full time (37.5hr) Band 7 Lung Cancer Nurse Specialist to work primarily at Worcestershire Royal Hospital, but as part of the cross county team covering Alexandra Hopistal, Redditch and Kidderminster Hospital as needed.
Main duties of the job
To provide a high-quality service within Worcestershire Acute Hospitals to patients with suspected and diagnosed with lung cancer.
The post holder works as part of the multi-professional team, ensuring this group of patients receive the highest standards of care and support from time of diagnosis and throughout the cancer pathway.
The postholder will be a clinical expert and be responsible for contributing to the on-going development of clinical practice and delivery of high-quality care within the specialist service. They will provide an interface between the medical and nursing disciplines within the acute and primary care sectors.
The post holder will provide professional innovation and lead service development.
The role will encompass all aspects of the patient care pathway, from pre-diagnosis, diagnosis, treatment and follow up in both the outpatient and inpatient environments.
To lead and manage the Lung Specialist Nurses band 6 and support worker band 4 and ensure they working within their own job remit, manage, delegate and direct workload.
