An exciting
opportunity has arisen for a creative enthusiastic individual to enhance the
nurse led countywide Cardiac Assessment specialist team. The position would suit someone
with previous sound cardiac knowledge with band 6 experience.
The successful candidate will be working
with an already established team of CNSs who organise, run and outcome the Chest
Pain Review Clinic (CPRC) (referrals taken from the acute sector at Worcester Royal Hospital) and
Rapid Access Chest Pain Clinic Countywide. Once trained the successful
candidate will also participate in the DC cardioversion service and work
alongside a multi-professional team in the Worcestershire Heart Centre providing
same day emergency care to cardiac patients
The post offers the opportunity to develop formal
health assessment skills, you would also be required to work with and support
the Lead CNS and to assist in mandatory or other audits.

Main duties of the job
We require someone with good to excellent ECG interpretation, knowledge of medicines/treatments used in cardiology and who has the ability to write clear reports and letters and has computer skills.

To contribute to the organisation of
multidisciplinary care of cardiac patients.
To deliver nurse led rapid access
chest pain clinic and Post PCI clinic.
Work alongside cardiology nurse
practitioners in the Worcestershire Heart Centre.
To facilitate flow of patients both
from admission via A&E/MAU and through the whole patient journey.
To assess patients presenting with
acute MI for suitability for the primary PCI service and facilitate admission
to the catheter lab as necessary.
To provide expert, relevant,
clinical advice and support to other health care professionals, patient and
their carers.
To
support the development and implementation of best practice within the
speciality cardiology.
To provide a specialist nursing role in the
assessment and management of cardiac patients.
To provide an outreach service to other
patients in the hospital with cardiac conditions.
To provide key support and an educational
resource for any qualified and unqualified nursing staff, allied health professionals, junior
doctors and students working
within the speciality.

Qualifications
Essential
- First level NMC registration.
- 1st degree or working towards.
- Cardiology care course or equivalent.
- Willingness to study advanced practice modules.
- Previous post within an acute Cardiology setting. Should have minimum of 2 years experience.
Desirable
- Adult health assessment course, degree or masters.
- Independent working and autonomy.
- Familiar with Echo reports, 24 hour tapes and other cardiology investigation results.
- Advanced Life Support.
Experience
Essential
