Job summary
The Cancer Psychology Service is an exciting and innovative service jointly offered by the Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust and Macmillan. Our small and friendly team are situated at Worcester Royal Hospital; however, the service covers and provides patient clinics at all three hospital sites (Worcester, Kidderminster and Redditch). Launched in early 2019, the team consists of three Counsellors, two Clinical Psychologists and a Psychology Service Navigator.
We are looking for a Counsellor/CBT Therapist to work 30 hours a week. You would have the opportunity to work with patients from a range of cancer specialities, inpatients and outpatients, as well as family members. Patients can be seen at every stage of their cancer experience; diagnosis, treatment, in recovery or receiving palliative treatment.

Main duties of the job
This post holder will provide Counselling/ Psychological Support as part of a stepped- care Clinical Psychology Service for cancer patients and carers (at diagnosis, during and post-treatment) of Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, in line with NICE guidelines for psychological support in cancer (2004).
The post holder will provide effective and evidence- based Counselling/Psychological Therapy to cancer patients and carers/relatives, presenting with a variety of presenting problems (e.g. anxiety and depression).
The post holder will also have opportunities to participate in education and training for cancer patients, carers/relatives and staff, contribute to service development and participate in Recovery Package initiatives such as Health and Wellbeing events.
