An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Ward Clerk on Avon 3, a 20 bedded mixed speciality medical unit at Worcester Royal Hospital. Our specialities are Endocrinology and Infectious Diseases.

The ideal candidates will preferably have experience of working within a hospital environment. This post is aimed at an individual who has a willingness to learn, enjoys being busy and likes a challenge.

You will have a flexible approach to this role to enable the needs of the service to be met. The ability to organize your workload and the ability to meet deadlines is essential.

This post often involves being the first point of contact for patients, relatives and visitors and a calm, sensitive, friendly attitude is paramount.

You will be a core member of the Team and you will need to be robust and dynamic to meet the demands of your role, only the most motivated, enthusiastic and adaptable of candidates should apply.

You will work as part of a motivated caring team and be seen as a valued member of staff.

Main duties of the job

  • Receiving new patients and welcoming accompanying relatives/friends, explaining basic ward routine and answering initial questions pending Ward Manager being available.
  • Making arrangements for patients discharge, including transfers to other hospitals and wards, booking transport.
  • Checking case notes, tidying and preparing them for scanning at the scan centre
  • Answering several phones on the Ward in a professional manner and conveying messages to the appropriate person.
  • Photocopying, scanning and ordering paperwork required for the Ward
  • Submitting audit data
