Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a midwife to join our day assessment unit and antenatal team. Our midwives aim to provide the highest standards of antenatal care and support to women and birthing people and their families who may be experiencing more complex pregnancies.

We are looking for an enthusiastic midwife to join our small team. The individual should be passionate about providing high quality evidence-based antenatal care. We are looking for someone who can work well in a team and also as an individual.

Main duties of the job

Provide specialist expertise to clients in the antenatal period, delivering high quality, evidence based care to women/birthing people and acting as a advocate and protector of the woman/birthing person and their baby within the hospital setting.

To be responsible and accountable for the development of the maternity service to ensure high standards of clinical care are maintained. Maintain professional development, liaise with other professionals in the multidisciplinary team, and support the other midwives in developing the maternity services.

Providing support to our antenatal clinic and Screening Service and Preterm service.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic, enthusiastic Band 6 Midwife to join our team within the Day Assessment Unit.

The Day Assessment Unit provides care to people with complex pregnancies & those requiring extra monitoring. Our team of Midwives & Maternity Care Assistants work closely with Obstetricians to prepare & coordinate care for people with a variety of complexities and needs.

Day Assessment Unit is a great learning environment to increase knowledge of how complexities affect a pregnancy and how care is planned to improve outcomes.

We need Midwives who are passionate about Antenatal care, are motivated, dynamic, with a keen eye for detail & want to help us develop and improve the service we offer.

Midwives in the Day Assessment Unit undertake varied roles. These include:

- Providing antenatal care and midwifery advice

- Provide unscheduled care.

- Liaising with other teams including Diabetes, Anaesthetics and Fetal Medicine, to plan care.

- Communicating & supporting people and their families, potentially in emotional circumstances and with difficult decision making

- Undertaking Carbon Monoxide Screening and providing smoking cessation advice.

- Supervising a team of Maternity Care Assistants and supporting them in their roles.

- Preparing notes, filing paperwork, completing forms.

- Documentation on paper and computer systems

- Confident in administering IV drugs/infusions

- Sound knowledge of CTG interpretation

- Willingness to learn scan report interpretation
