Job summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Band 5 staff nurse to join our Dermatology Outpatient and Specialist Nurse teams. We are expanding dermatology service to patients with a wide range of long term conditions including phototherapy, nurse-led clinics, complex dressings and biopsy clinic support. The successful candidate will be joining a dynamic team with high quality care being at the forefront of our service delivery model.

Main duties of the job

To portray a professional attitude and demonstrate effective communication skills at all times

To facilitate and provide high quality care to patients and their carers prompting a positive patient experience

To manage delegated responsibilities

To communicate effectively with the multi-disciplinary team

To support wound care for patients post operatively

To support Photo therapy clinics

Job responsibilities

  • To undertake skin assessments in clinic e.g.PASI and DLQI
  • To give advice on application of topical treatments as prescribed by medical staff
  • To facilitate the phototherapy sessions for patients with long term skin disease
  • To undertake skin biopsies ( with appropriate training)
  • To support Wound care for patients post operatively following complex skin surgery
  • To support outpatient clinics where needed, chaperone, photography etc..
  • To support minor skin procedures as needed, with training to scrub for procedures
  • To keep up to date with mandatory training and evidence based practice

  • Can demonstrate a specific interest in area of work
  • Will require a specific speciality related qualification / equivalent experience related to the post or willingness to work towards within 18 months of qualification

Desirable

  • Significant proven knowledge and experience in the speciality
  • Experience within Dermatology
  • Phototherapy Training
  • Wound care experience
  • Surgical experience with skin

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Nurse on sub part 1 or 2 of the professional register
  • Evidence of continuing education for more experienced Band 5 nurses in speciality
  • NMC recognised Mentorship qualification or willingness to work towards within 18 months of commencement of post

Desirable

  • Teaching and Assessing qualification
