Job summary

Worcestershire Acute Hospital NHS Trust is continuing to utilise international recruitment of both Allied Health Professionals and nursing as a method of recruiting into vacancies. This has been an ongoing project, and we are now looking for a permanent band 7 to manage this team

Our ideal candidate will be highly motivated and fully conversant with all aspects of current international recruitment, as well as a strong team leader as there will be management responsibilities for the professional development team. Excellent communication skills and a flexible approach are essential as an on-call commitment is required for this post.

You will have experience of international nurse recruitment. The post holder will also have leadership and problem-solving skills, will assist in annual appraisals, stock and budget control. You will also be expected to lead teaching sessions for a variety of professional development topics including preparation of staff for OSCEs. As part of the Professional development management team, you will also deputise for the Lead Practitioner for Professional Development and Practise facilitators when required. This role also requires countywide working to help maintain the international recruitment standards.

You will be a:

Allied Health Professional or RN with relevant band 6 experience in international recruitment and Professional Development

Main duties of the job

To have the necessary skills and knowledge to provide expert care to all categories of patients within the Acute Trust

To be a highly visible member of the Professional Development team

Provide credible and inspirational leadership, contributing to the continuous professional development of all clinical staff and the multidisciplinary team where appropriate.

To provide education to support practice changes from nursing team.

To facilitate and coordinate education, training and development of International Nurses within the Trust

To plan, implement and evaluate effective theoretical and practical teaching strategies therefore promoting and facilitating a culture of learning

Clinical:

To ensure practice is within NMC guidelines, Trust policies and procedures.

To assist and lead in the education of nursing care.

To support the continued development of the preceptor, mentor and clinical supervision programmes.

To ensure nursing practice is based on the best and most current available evidence based ensuring high quality of care.

To maintain, monitor and evaluate standards of care within the team and assist in the implementation of recommendations from government or professional bodies in relation to nursing care.

To work and support other to work within Trust guidelines.

To observe the Code as laid down by the Nursing and Midwifery Council and maintain and develop own professional competence.

To ensure high standards of nursing care with the Trust Directorates.

To assess the training and development of staff and provide appropriate experience or advise accordingly.

Management Responsibilities:

To liaise with the Professional Development Lead and Lead Nurse for Workforce and Education.

To be a positive role model, ensuring good staff relationships, effective communication and implementation of the Trust values.

To manage own time effectively with an appropriate balance between educational administration and teaching responsibilities.

Regularly assess potential and performance of nursing staff in accordance with Trust personal development review and action personal development plans.

Participate in the recruitment and selection of staff, helping at recruitment events as required.

Awareness of education budget including completion of annual training plan to maximise education cost effectiveness.

To ensure that Trust policies and procedures are adhered to.

Be responsible for maintaining a safe environment.

To ensure clinical incident reporting takes place and facilitate training to reduce risk and improve future practice.

Link with appropriate multi-professional groups and be a visible presence in the clinical area(s) attending meetings as appropriate.

Education and Training:

To ensure that all clinical staff are compliant with NHS Standards concerning education and training.

Work with their immediate line manager, Lead Nurses/Matron's to regularly review the training/educational requirements of nursing staff at all levels to ensure that the needs of patients and service can be met.

Ensure education is planned and delivered that reflects agreed care quality metrics, patient outcome and experience indicators, key targets and any improvement plans.

Play an integral part in advising on education required for the development of new roles and/or services.

To maintain appropriate records of all training and education and provide evidence of this as requested.

Provide education expertise when practice is being reviewed and in relation to workforce developments. This may include advising on education requirements for any new roles or services that are being developed.

To act as a resource for information about training courses and educational opportunities.

To offer educational support to all members of staff undertaking courses and training.

To coordinate and support mentors and students doing the IELTS.

To offer clinical support and training to new and established staff members.

Maintain accurate records in accordance with NMC requirements for Assessors and Mentors. Coordinate with Trust Practice Placement Team mentor update sessions.

To facilitate information and access to educational resources.

To liaise with other Professional Development departments.

To liaise with local and national Universities and attend education meetings.
