Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for 3 Healthcare Assistants (HCAs) to join Ward 2 at the Alexandra Hospital.

Ward 2 is an acute ward specialising in diabetes and endocrine medicine and is comprised of 22 beds. We care for patients who often have multiple medical conditions that require specialist on-going support and care plans. No two days are ever the same; so if you enjoy a working in a challenging yet rewarding environment, we would love to hear from you!

Main duties of the job

You will play an essential role in supporting the delivery of the highest standard of quality care to our patients, working alongside registered nurses and other healthcare professionals to achieve this.

You will help us to provide a professional and empathetic service to the patients and relatives in our care and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Your role will include a wide range of tasks, from providing personal care to patients and undertaking clinical observations.

You will be required to follow rigorous policies such as infection control and manual handling policies. In addition you will be providing emotional and practical support to patients & their families.

While it is desirable that candidates have at least 6-12 months recent care setting experience, this is not essential as training can be provided for the right candidates. So if you have the qualities we're looking for and share our values, please do still get in touch!

There will be plenty of support and opportunities to develop your knowledge and skills and encouragement to take on additional training in an area that interests you i.e. cannulation & venepuncture etc. Comprehensive trust and ward induction is provided and completion of the healthcare certificate is strongly encouraged.

You will assist with toileting, escorting patients to and from the lavatory and recording outputs where necessary.
