Job summary
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join the Pathology IT team to work within Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust to support Pathology IT systems. WAHT Pathology IT are primarily based at Worcestershire Royal Hospital with our essential site located at the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch.
The pathology IT system is a highly important component for the efficient functioning of the laboratory and this role will be a key addition to the team who are responsible for its on-going maintenance and development.
You will join a team of efficient and dedicated staff members who provide technical supportfor service developments to ensure smooth and seamless transition to the adoption of new technologies within Pathology. This role with support Pathology IT with interface support, user account creation, planning and implementation of system upgrades and provide business intelligence support for the Directorate to ensure data is readily available, accurate and usable.
As part of Pathology governance it is important to maintain high standards within Pathology IT and this role will support quality improvement to drive services forward, and engage with stakeholders within the Trust, other hospitals and users to ensure full compliance is achieved with working relationships being created successfully.
Main duties of the job
To maintain and develop key aspects of the Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) to ensure the timely and accurate reporting of diagnostic results to support efficient clinical patient care, both in the Acute Trust and Primary Care.
To monitor Pathology system stability and performance using LIMS dashboard (Clinisys Control Console) and feedback any issues to Pathology IT team and Pathology teams accordingly.
The post holder will assist in providing technical support on all Pathology IT matters liaising with the Pathology IT team, Directorate Manager, Clinical Service Leads, Laboratory Managers, Biomedical Scientists and Medical Laboratory Assistants.
To co-ordinate and assist in the install/replacements/upgrades (as appropriate) IT hardware across all departments of the service or liaise with Service Providers appropriately.
Attend regular meetings where Pathology IT is expected to participate.
In consultation with Pathology IT Manager, Laboratory Managers and/or Directorate Manager, take timely and effective decisions in response to changing circumstances to maintain service provision, e.g. IT or equipment failure
Contribute to the development of departmental policies and good quality management practices and quality improvement.
Participate in providing support out of hours for Pathology as and when required by the Pathology directorate.
