Job summary

Worcestershire Acute Hospitals Charity are looking for an enthusiastic and creative individual to join our small and friendly team. The Community and Events Fundraising Officer will focus on all things community fundraising, supporter events, challenge events, volunteering and community partnerships.

Worcestershire Acute Hospitals Charity supports patients, staff and services in Worcestershire's acute hospitals. The aim of the charity is to make the experience less difficult, the environment more comfortable and the working day easier. Our projects support the following three key areas:

  • Improving facilities for patients, staff and visitors
  • Supporting staff wellbeing, development and training
  • Funding additional medical equipment

The charity is the lifeline running through our hospitals; transforming hospital environments, enhancing patient experience and helping to ensure our NHS is the very best it can be for the people of Worcestershire.

Main duties of the job

The Community and Events Fundraising Officer will be the key contact for all our fantastic fundraising supporters as well as creating, recruiting and managing a diary of exciting and innovative challenge events and charity led events.

The role will provide personalised and professional donor care and support to new and current supporters, both face to face in the community, and digitally.

The charity works closely with the Trust Volunteering team and this role will be the key contact for this team, promoting opportunities and supporting Trust volunteers at charity events.

The role will represent the charity in our local community across Worcestershire and be active in building relationships with key community groups and organisations including within the education sector and the local business community.

Spotting new opportunities will be integral to the success of our community fundraising, generating income and in-kind support to deliver impactful projects across our Trust.

Job Purpose:

As a key member of the Fundraising Team, the Community and Events Fundraising Officer will support the ongoing development and implementation of an ambitious community fundraising plan for Worcestershire Acute Hospital Charity, ensuring growth in the level of income raised from community fundraising activities and charity led events. Working within the wider fundraising team, you will support and report to the Head of Fundraising and Community Development.

Key Duties:

The Community and Events Fundraising Officer will:

Manage existing supporters within the community in maximising income from their community fundraising activities and be proactive in recruiting new DIY fundraisers for the charity

Manage a programme of charity led challenge events including recruiting participants and supporting their fundraising, leading on event management, organisation and delivery of events and supporting the Head of Fundraising and Community Development with budgeting and ensuring a positive ROI

Develop income generating or mutually beneficial partnerships with community organisations, support groups and community events

Manage and develop all charity community fundraising activities and events including local collections, shows, exhibitions, awareness stands and community talks

Recruit new and manage existing community corporate partnerships through active local networking, researching prospects and opportunities and preparing proposals

Manage a programme of awareness and fundraising activities with local nurseries, schools, colleges and other educational institutions

Actively promote Trust and Charity volunteering opportunities in the community and supervise volunteers at external community events

Deliver to and exceed income targets across multiple income streams and agreed annual objectives

Use the Harlequin CRM effectively and diligently to record, store and build a donor database

Use Harlequin CRM to support with income reporting as required

Work to raise the profile of the charity, its work and relationship to the NHS Trust within our local community aiming to become one of Worcestershire's charities of choice

Other duties:

Actively support specific appeals and projects as deemed appropriate by the Head of Fundraising and Community Development

Support the delivery of key fundraising objectives within the annual charity work plans

Attend regular charity team meetings to review performance and plan future fundraising activities

Work in partnership with the Trust Communications team to ensure that all fundraising events are effectively promoted and publicised

Provide monthly reports to the Head of Fundraising and Community Development demonstrating activity, impact and progress towards targets

Understand and comply with Charity and Trust policies and all relevant legislation

Undertake training when necessary and participate in regular appraisals and performance reviews.

Ensure that all income and expenditure is correctly accounted for and all cash handled in accordance with the charity's procedures and to ensure that all fundraising activity is legal, ethical and conducted to the highest possible standard
