Job summary
Welcome! Do you enjoy a challenge? We would like to extend an invitation to join our well established Urology CNS team, as a Band 6, if you feel you have the right skills and qualities. To work clinically as a urology nurse specialist providing a range of nurse led clinics, support the service and support the department to develop your knowledge and skills. Identifying and directing patient referrals from the GP and other sources to the most appropriate clinic. To provide a high standard of evidenced based care for patients with urological conditions. To provide teaching and develop clinical expertise across the hospital sites and community teams with a passion for improving quality. We currently are able to offer 2 full time post.
Main duties of the job
Main duties of the job will be developed through training, supervision and competency assessment that will lead towards a Band 7 role if these criteria are met.
Main Duties
- To liaise with all key members of the multidisciplinary team to advise and support colleagues in the delivery of specialised patient care across professional boundaries. For both benign and cancer urological conditions.
- To undertake nurse led clinics and to be responsible for excellent standards of nursing care to patients through the planning, co-ordinating, delivering and evaluating nurse-led clinics.
- To work autonomously to deliver specialist clinical care appropriate to the needs of the patient group and based on principles that are research based and which enhance the quality of patient care.
- To contribute to the facilitation of the planning, delivery and evaluation of care pathways for a designated group of patients.
- To contribute to training and education within specialist area.
- To promote an innovative and progressive attitude to the continual improvement of patient care through reviewing the evidence base and embedding this in practice through engagement in research activities.
- To act as a visible role model and expert practitioner.
- To be able to perform diagnostic procedures eg flexible cystoscopies, urodynamics assessment, this is not an exhaustive list
