Band 6 Theatre Team Leader, Anaesthetics and Recovery

Kidderminster Treatment Centre Operating Theatres provide elective day and short stay surgery across a range of surgical specialities. Four theatres, two treatment rooms, and a 6 bedded recovery area allow us to provide that service with a dedicated Theatre team committed to high standards of care.

We have a vacancy for a Team Leader in Anaesthetics and Recovery and we invite Registered Operating Department Practitioners or Registered Nurses with qualifications and experience in Anaesthetics and Recovery to apply for this opportunity.

You will have a dynamic approach to leadership ensuring high standards of evidence- based patient safety and care. You will monitor resources and deliver cost effectiveness and quality improvement. Great communication and flexibility are key skills and you will have the opportunity to deputise for members of the Band 7 team. The professional development of colleagues and students is central to the role and you will demonstrate your commitment to a supportive learning environment. You will act as a role model within the team, department, and for our organization.

Working hours are Monday Friday 8-6 though working hours are subject to change.

Main duties of the job

  • Provides effective leadership for a multidisciplinary team (MDT) to safeguard standards of care and professional practice, this includes delegating work activities, providing supervision and supporting the development of individuals.
  • Responsible for the management and coordination of activities within a delegated area to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of patient care in line with nationally recognised standards and the Trust 4ward behaviours. Collaborates with the Speciality Manager to deliver the ambitions of the speciality, department and the wider organisation, this includes assuming the responsibilities and duties of the Speciality Manager in their absence.

However, there is also a requirement to work under pressure in emergency situations which may include prolonged concentration and exposure to circumstances of a distressing and emotional nature.
