Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity to join our friendly team in Rheumatology. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Junior Sister/Charge Nurse with experience or a keen interest in Rheumatology to support the delivery of high-quality care to our patients.You will be expected to manage a small team of nursing and support staff within Rheumatology Day Case and Out Patients areas.

Main duties of the job

Providing day to day clinical leadership for the nursing team and support staff within the Day Case and Out Patient areas adminsitering care and treatment to Rheumatology patients.

To maintain high standards of patient care, and ensure patient needs are met by all members of staff within the department, through effective leadership skills. To act as a good role model to junior members of the team and any students within the department.

To manage the Rheumatology day case and outpatient department.

  • Check prescriptions for patients, ensuring they are correct and that the correct drug has been ordered and arrived.

  • Evidence of continual professional development.

Desirable

  • Educated in nursing studies to degree level.
  • Leadership study/ qualification.

Experience

Desirable

  • Experience in teaching/ coaching.

Knowledge and Skills

Essential

  • Specialist knowledge relevant to the role applied for.
  • Able to demonstrate effective leadership of staff.
  • Able to demonstrate effective teaching and development of staff and students.
  • Evidence of being involved in implementing quality improvement in the work place.
  • Evidence of being up-to-date with current issues in professional practice.
  • Fully aware of the Clinical Governance agenda.
  • Fully aware of principles of infection control.
  • Fully aware of Health & Safety at Work.
  • Able to promote equality, diversity and rights.
  • IT skills.
