Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic midwife to join our Midwifery team as the lead Patient Experience midwife for 12 months (fixed term contract). This post will involve working alongside our current Guideline, Audit and Patient Experience midwife to further enhance the role and build on improving the experience our patients and their families receive in our care.

The post holder will work with midwifery, obstetric, and neonatal colleagues to lead on the continued aim to improve the experience of patients and their families who use our service, as well as supporting with improved implementation of the Maternity Friends and Family Test data. The post holder will be encouraged to develop quality improvement projects focused on improving patient experience and monitor the impact of these and will be expected to develop and maintain effective relationships with our MNVP, user groups and other interested parties. The postholder is expected to have excellent communication skills and be able to manage their own workload.

In addition, the postholder will be expected to review and amend guidance as needed, and be able to audit outcomes and suggest improvements based on experience and feedback.

Main duties of the job

To act as lead link between Maternity and Neonatal Voice Partnerships, organising, attending and participating in meetings.

To work with the leadership team and all stakeholders to identify and lead change to improve services

To work collaboratively with leadership team to identify learning needs and provide learning opportunities to facilitate change and performance improvement from patient and staff feedback

Inspire and lead others to design and deliver the best experience to patients

Consult with internal and external customers on data quality issues

Ensure standards are met, and satisfaction scores are on target

Ensure effective communication with patients and families regarding expectations and services provided.

Prepare engaging, accurate, timely reports and documents and consider use of newsletters that can be shared internally and externally to the Trust

Implement guideline changes as required, following the approved governance process, and audit outcomes and present data to stakeholders, families and staff as required
