Job summary

Receiving patients, staff and ward visitors in a professional and welcoming manner, adhering to patient confidentiality.

Ensure that all patient details and activity is recorded accurately and promptly using the Patient Administration system (Oasis), to register new patients when necessary and raise new case notes in accordance with Trust policies and procedures.

Negotiate follow up appointments for patients prior to discharge.

Ensure that patient case notes are available, creating event notes when needed. Maintain case notes in a tidy manner, filing patient documents in accordance with Trust policy. Ensure that all case note movements are tracked on Oasis.

Preparing event notes for scanning in a timely manner and to be confident in EZ note use.

Main duties of the job

Ensure x-rays are available as required, including reports.

Receive telephone enquiries in a polite and professional manner and ensure all messages are conveyed accurately and appropriately.

Arrange patient transfers between wards, departments or hospitals as required, including liaison with Ambulance Control as necessary.

Facilitate the prompt collection of data by liaison with the clinical coding department.

Provide appropriate information to the Private Patients Officer regarding overseas/private patients.

Assist medical staff with identifying, printing and filing of medical results, monitoring that all results are signed including telephoned results.

Completing insurance claim forms and statutory sickness notes.
