Job summary
- The aim of the role is to support the Clinical Effectiveness Manager and Support Manager to execute an agreed programme of clinical effectiveness projects and work streams
- To develop audit tools, analysis and reporting for audits that focus on quality and improvement and to undertake Corporate Audits, with support, as required.
- Monitor participation in mandatory national audits within allocated specialities.
- Promote the use of quality improvement methodology, and provide guidance to those carrying out clinical audit/quality improvement projects to ensure that clinical audit leads to improvement.
- To support systems in place for the receiving, distribution and monitoring of implementation of NICE guidance
- To support systems and processes for the management of key documents
- To provide training, support and expertise to clinicians, divisional governance teams and any other staff on all areas of clinical effectiveness
- Work collaboratively with other departments such as patient safety and the improvement team to provide clinical effectiveness support and expertise and facilitate any changes that need to be made to key documents, initiating clinical audits or other supporting information.
Main duties of the job
- Maintain and report on progress of clinical audit/quality improvement projects
- Work within a team to support data collection for local/corporate and national clinical audit projects.
- To encourage and assist healthcare professionals in identifying suitable topics for audit that are relevant to guidelines, risk management, complaints, Trust objectives, national initiatives and to design suitable data collection tools to support the audit process.
- To review all clinical audit reports received by specialties and facilitate the completion of actions, identify any improvements made and provide support where needed.
- Monitor the Trusts participation in a range of National Audits, ensuring reports and improvement plans have been developed by the project lead.
- Working alongside colleagues in the development of robust Clinical Audit improvement plans.
- Work with Divisions to develop and support clinical audit and quality improvement initiatives.
- Responsible for organising and prioritising own workload.
- Attend relevant meetings within Divisions/Specialities and outside the Trust contributing as appropriate.
- Participate in raising the profile of clinical effectiveness throughout the Trust including changes in practice so that learning can be shared across specialties.
- Provide support by preparing evidence to support external requirements.
- Maintain the Key Documents process including dealing with queries, providing expertise and providing quality assurance for key documents
