Full-time based at Worcestershire Royal Hospital
Part-time based at Kidderminster Treatment Centre
The Resuscitation Officers provide training and clinical support across the Worcestershire Acute Trust in basic and advanced resuscitation skills and emergency care. Two new substantive RO posts (full-time and part-time hours) have become available as the service continues to develop to meet the challenges of todays NHS.
Applicants must have state registration (RGN / ODP / paramedic) and at least 2 years experience working in an acute care setting. They must have a demonstrable knowledge and enthusiasm for resuscitation medicine, ideally possessing the Resuscitation Council ALS instructor or provider qualification.
Teacher / trainer experience would be a distinct advantage as these skills would be fundamental to the role.
Based at one of the Acute Trust Hospitals, the post holder will also be required to meet commitments across all WAHT sites.
Main duties of the job
The Resuscitation Officer role spans three key dimensions :
Operational - supporting the hospitals emergency teams ensuring services are effective
Training - all grades of hospital staff in basic & advanced / adult & paediatric life support
Audit & research - including national and local participation

- Carry a hospital crash bleep and attend emergency 2222 calls whenever possible subject to active commitments.
- Visit wards & departments to advise and assess on emergency equipment and procedures.

- Be lead instructor on in-house and national courses as required.

Research & Audit :
- Support the Trust Resuscitation audits
- Present resuscitation audit reports to the Resuscitation & Deteriorating Patient Committee if required
- Participate and assist as appropriate in resuscitation research.
Management / General:
- To attend the Trust Resuscitation & Deteriorating Patient Committee.
- To represent Resuscitation Officers team as required.
- Maintain training equipment to appropriate working standard.
