Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a nurse to join our growing Interventional Radiology team at an exciting time of investment and development in Interventional services.
You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver high standards of care within the imaging modalities of Interventional Radiology, Fluoroscopy, CT and MRI. The varied nature of this specialty means there is always something new and interesting to learn.
This is an opportunity for a Registered Nurse to develop their career and skills within the imaging speciality to deliver the highest standards of care during, interventional procedures and therapeutic interventions. The post consists of a variety of roles including working as a scrub assistant, circulating and managing patient care pre and post stages of treatment. Management of the IR team and running of the rooms day to day duties, ensuring the Patient lists run smoothly and assisting the band 7 IR manager.
Previous radiology or other relevant experience is Essential.

Main duties of the job
Where applicable, the post holder will take charge of the team/department on a regular basis, including being Nurse in Charge.
The post holder is expected to carry out all relevant forms of care without direct supervision, supervise registered and/or unregistered staff and student nurses whilst maintaining a safe working environment.
The post holder will be flexible in the approach to the clinical area and provide cover for interventional radiology lists at all sites.
The post holder, following training will be expected to be confident in assessing all patients for any invasive radiological procedure; safely monitor throughout, sedate as required and recover . Assist as required with a wide range of invasive procedures including; arterial intervention and percutaneous work.
Many patients are acutely unwell requiring emergency procedures, the post holder must be confident in managing these patients while their condition is unstable in the isolated environment of Radiology with support from the Consultant Radiologist
The post holder will be expected to scrub alongside the Consultant Radiologist.
The post holder will be able to monitor the sedated patient and give IV medication as prescribed by the Consultant Radiologist within the scope of the radiology sedation policy.
The post holder will participate in a 24/7 on call rota for emergency procedures, once established.
The post holder will be required to wear a lead coat for long periods.
