Job summary

Chemotherapy/SACT Scheduler - 37.5 hours per week

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the countywide Chemotherapy/SACT scheduling team. The role will be primarily based on Rowan Suite at Worcestershire Royal Hospital but there will be an adhoc requirement to travel and provide cover on our other two units (based at Kidderminster Hospital and the Alexandra Hospital) during periods of absence.

You will be providing a pivotal role in this busy unit and will be responsible for scheduling all patients receiving systemic anti-cancer treatments. Working closely with our SACT Co-Ordinators, nurses and consultants you will have a thorough understanding of all processes underpinning the delivery of chemotherapy. In addition you will also be expected to act as part of the wider administration team.

The role requires a self-motivated and highly organised individual with excellent interpersonal skills as liaison with medical staff/administrative colleagues and patients is an important element of the post. You will need to be an excellent team player as well as being able to work on your initiative. Attention to detail and good keyboarding skills are essential. You should have some understanding of delivering on as aspect of a service within an administrative role and have an understanding of the cancer pathways.

Main duties of the job

  • To be a member of the Rowan Suite Chemotherapy Unit team and provide comprehensive administrative support to the service based at Worcestershire Royal Hospital.
  • Responsibility for scheduling of new patient referrals for systemic anti-cancer treatment (formerly known as chemotherapy), in accordance with the needs of the service and with direction from the Unit Manager/Chemotherapy Nurses.
  • Responsibility for scheduling follow on treatment for patients in accordance with SACT guidelines and ensure that patients have the appropriate pre-treatment appointments with the clinical team.
  • To have knowledge of the specific booking processes for the other two chemotherapy units (Millbrook Suite & Garden Suite) as there will be a requirement to travel and provide cover during periods of sickness and annual leave amongst the scheduling staff.
