Job summary
This is an exciting
opportunity for an experienced, enthusiastic and highly motivated Band 5/6
nurse to join our well-established, friendly Respiratory ward.
We have experienced
nurses and Respiratory Consultants within the team to provide support and mentorship.
The successful candidate will be supported in gaining the skills and experience
required to deliver the role of the specialist nurse and will eventually be
competent in caring for acute respiratory patients in this rewarding area of
work.
The successful
applicant will be a registered first level nurse who ideally has experience of
working with Respiratory patients and Non-invasive ventilation but nurses with
broad acute medical experience will be considered.

Nurse Practitioner
and Independent Prescriber are desirable but not essential.
This role is well
suited to individuals with excellent communication skills, a strong sense of
team work and who are motivated to reach their potential within a forward
thinking team, as on-going training and development is actively encouraged.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be a good team player and be able to effectively manage their own time and workload. The successful candidate must be computer literate and willing to undertake training.

Service at Worcestershire Royal Hospital, representing an exciting opportunity
for the successful candidate to develop specialist skills in the assessment and
management of patients with respiratory diseases. The Nurse Practitioner (NP) will
receive specialist training under the supervision of Respiratory Consultants
and an established Respiratory nurse practitioner. It is expected that the NP
will be an integral member of the respiratory team, will participate in respiratory
in-reach, assist with management of ward patients, requesting, recording and communication
of investigations and respond to deteriorating patients. The successful
candidate will have a particularly important role in identifying respiratory
patients outlying from the respiratory wards and improving their access to high
quality specialist respiratory care. It is expected that the successful
candidate will, after a period of training and induction, provide support for
Saturday Respiratory Consultant ward rounds at a frequency of 1 in 3.
The role of the Nurse practitioner is dynamic
and the post holder will be proactive in pioneering and developing the role in
response to changes in practice and healthcare needs.
The post intends to improve patient outcomes
though improving accessibility to services and improving quality.
The post holder is expected to exercise a high
degree of professional autonomy and make critical decisions to satisfy the
expectations and demands of the role.
