Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust will be deploying an Electronic Patient Record (EPR) across all our services and hospitals over the next few years. This investment will support provision of safer and better quality care for our patients.
The Electronic Patient Record represents part of our local implementation of the Digital Chapter of the NHS Long Term Plan.
The programme is clinically led, and is central to the transformation needed to improve patient care in our Hospitals. The EPR supports our new Clinical Strategy, which highlights where Digital can transform the way we work to improve the safety and quality.

Main duties of the job
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Trusts Electronic Patient Record Programme Team.
The post holders will work closely with the system supplier, local project leads and colleagues within the Trust in order to provide testing support for application testing within the Digital Division.
You will be assisting the Testing Manager in implementing system software upgrades or supporting the testing of new IT systems.
There are two positions available both offered on a 2-year Fixed Term basis.
Who Are We Looking For:
The successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills, patience and a willingness to learn. The post holder will require an in depth knowledge and understanding of major NHS IT applications such as PAS, Order Comms and clinical portals.
As a Testing Analyst you will ensure test systems are fit for purpose at the start of each test cycle by checking relevant scenarios exist within the systems, and all the correct access rights are set up in the test environments.

Job responsibilities
To provide testing support for application testing within the Digital Division.
Perform testing of Clinical Systems to the Acute Trusts standards.
Ensuring that systems knowledge is maintained, across the portfolio of applications that are supported by the department, of how systems are being used by the Trusts end-users to ensure that all existing processes are tested to support any bug fixes or software upgrades.
Reporting of issues found during testing and ensuring quality replication steps are provided for each issue, allowing suppliers to investigate the issues.
Issue tracking and coordination with the Testing Manager, of any changes required.
Test cycle reporting, making available test cycle progress, issues found etc. to project managers, suppliers, system leads and management as necessary.
Ensure that configuration knowledge of all the applications is maintained so that if required during testing, configuration changes can be made to the system and be sufficiently documented so that the changes can then be made to Live, Training and Pre-Production etc., in preparation for implementation planning and execution.
Advising the support helpdesk, business analysis teams and training teams on any anomalies found in testing.
Working independently to ensure:
- the business processes are fully understood to ensure that the testing scripts that are developed robustly test the system
- test scripts are updated proactively
- test reporting is produced in a timely manner
- issues and replication steps are submitted to suppliers in a timely manner

- fixes are retested as per the testing schedule
- fix / test cycle is a closed loop
Key Duties:
- Assisting the Testing Manager in implementing system software upgrades or supporting the testing of new IT systems.
- Developing and managing software testing scripts based on departmental guidelines, ensuring that functional specifications and business processes provided by the business analysts / end-users are to the required standard for software upgrades or new IT systems.
- System testing with designated Trust clinical and non-clinical users for new implementations and system upgrades; advising the users of the system software changes and ensuring that all areas of the system are fully tested and that users are fully aware of the changes, providing testing updates to the Release Manager or relevant IT project manager.
- Use of any tools to automate and facilitate regression and performance testing based on scripts developed.
- Identifying issues when testing, investigating issues by liaising with business analysts or the end-users, where necessary ensuring full replication steps are provided to laid-down procedures, passing issues to system suppliers help desks and following up issues with the suppliers.
- Working with IT colleagues in coordinating system deployments and scheduling test activities.
- Providing support to the Digital Application Support team with system configuration, set-up and reference data files where necessary to support testing.
- Liaising with the Digital Training Team in developing and maintaining up-to-date and relevant user guidance for new deployments.
- Carrying out System / Sanity testing for sign-off after software deployment / upgrades, ensuring Sanity Testing scripts are in place for all systems under the remit of the ICT Digital Team.
- Providing user support where necessary after any new deployment / upgrade.
