Band 6 Occupational Therapist

The closing date is 10 May 2026

Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Occupational Therapist (with Band 5-6 developmental progression considered) who is interested in expanding their clinical skills and experience. This post is within the West Essex Specialist Community Mental Health Team (SCMHT) for adults, providing services across West Essex and the surrounding areas.

Occupational Therapists within the service deliver occupation-focused assessments, interventions, and consultation, contributing to formulation and supporting the delivery of holistic MDT care plans and risk assessments.

The Occupational Therapy team sits within the wider multi-disciplinary teams, working collaboratively to provide holistic, recovery-focused support for adults with complex and enduring mental health needs who require secondary mental health care.

The base for this role is the Latton Bush Centre, Harlow. However, this is amobile role, and frequent, often daily travel is required. You will be expected to attend meetings and complete client visits within individuals' homes and the local community, as well as travel to other EPUT sites across West Essex, including (but not limited to) Uttlesford, Loughton, and surrounding areas.

Main duties of the job

Working within this busy and supportive team environment, you will have the opportunity to develop a wide range of clinical skills. These include, but are not limited to, undertaking occupational therapy assessments, care planning, and delivering evidence-based interventions through both group and individual sessions. The role will also involve the supervision and appraisal of junior staff, dependent on experience and banding.

The post holder will have access to regular professional supervision and strong occupational therapy leadership within the team.

You will be actively supported to access a range of relevant learning, development, and training opportunities to enhance your clinical practice and support your ongoing professional development.
