As a Band 7 Clinical or Counselling Psychologist, you join the Psychological Services team in delivering a psychological service to clients identified as having an At Risk Mental State (ARMS), based in Mid Essex.
Main duties of the job
This includes delivering NICE-recommended interventions for unusual experiences and co-existing mental health problems (e.g. depression, anxiety, emerging personality disorder, substance misuse), using approaches such as CBT, DBT and EMDR. A key responsibility is conducting comprehensive assessments to develop psychological formulations of service users' needs, including use of tools such as CAARMS. These assessments inform referral reviews and care planning for individuals identified as Ultra-High Risk ARMS.
The psychologists work collaboratively with colleagues and services to provide evidence-based, cost-effective interventions to service users and stakeholders. The role involves contributing to decision-making on the appropriate use of limited resources, including family interventions, care coordination, social prescribing and education/employment support.
All ARMS work supports preventative mental health strategies through partnership with local mental health, social care and third sector services. You will promote social inclusion and empower service users in their recovery and social functioning. The role may also include providing supervision to team members to enhance psychological understanding and identify appropriate psychosocial support within the MDT.
