Job summary

The post holder will be a Ward Manager based within the Crystal Centre on Topaz Ward.

Mixed acute ward.

Main duties of the job

In liaison with the Clinical Manager/Matron, Service Manager, Associate Director and Director to set objectives for the delivery of care within the area and to devise ways of implementing and monitoring these. Towork closely with the Executive Nurse in developing nursing practice across inpatient wards. To have knowledge/understanding of the legislation likely to be encountered as part of the role e.g. Mental Health Act 1983, as amended in 2007, Misuse of Drugs Act 1971, Access to Information Act 1986, Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.To ensure full compliance with standards laid out in the Trust's CPA Policy & Procedure.

The post holder works under the overall management supervision of the Clinical Manager/Matron and is required to undertake the duties of the post autonomously, but with support. Active participation will be required in the training and education of learners allocated to the ward, and will also encourage integration between the ward teams and the community services.
