Shape the future of Dementia Care and join the service where your clinical insight will directly enhance the lives of older adults living with dementia.EPUT is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and passionate Consultant Old Age Psychiatrist to provide medical leadership for the Tower inpatient ward based at Clacton and District Hospital Clacton-on-Sea, Essex. The post holder will provide medical leadership for multidisciplinary team comprising of resident doctors, ward nursing team, psychiatrists, CPN's, OT and psychologist.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be expected to work closely with the ward managers and the wider MDT to provide a safe and effective service and also be expected to work closely with the relevant community teams and contribute to providing an effective care pathway for patients across the service.

The post holder will be the Responsible Clinician (RC) for patients under their care on Tower Ward for patients detained under the Mental Health Act and expected to carry out the duties expected of an RC knowledgably and in a timely manner. The post holder will be expected to be knowledgeable of the Mental Capacity Act and be proficient at applying it appropriately to patient care.

You must have full GMC registration and be on the Specialist Register, with an appropriate CCT or equivalent or be within six months of obtaining your CCT on the date of the AAC.

  • Registration with the General Medical Council and on the Specialist Register OR within six months
  • Meets Royal College of Psychiatrists criteria for appointment to the post of Consultant.
  • Section 12 Approval and Approved Clinician Status.

Desirable

  • Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management.
  • MRCPsych
  • On the Specialist Register with qualifications Older Adult Psychiatry
  • Postgraduate degree in psychiatry MRC Psych or equivalent.

Eligibility
