Band 7 Team Leader

The vacancy is for Team Leader of the Basildon First Response Team (FRT). The Basildon FRT is a multidisciplinary service which provides comprehensive assessments and evidence-based treatments for adults experiencing a range of mental health disorders who are also presenting with risks that require management and support of a multi-disciplinary team.

Main duties of the job

To co-ordinate and Lead team functioning with particular focus on:-

  • Allocation of referrals including delivery of care
  • Performance monitoring and management
  • Line management and supervision of staff

The post holder will work in collaboration with the Operational Team Manager to ensure the highest standards of practice and service delivery.

The post holder will contribute to facilitating any future transformation of Community Mental Health Services in line with the MSE Mental Health Strategy.

The post holder will manage colleagues from Nursing and AHP backgrounds, ensuring that the needs of patients are met through the effective deployment of these staff. The Team Lead will professionally supervise the Nursing staff in the team and will also maintain a clinical leadership role.

The Team Lead will carry a small caseload of Complex Patients

The Team Lead may on occasion deputise for the Team Manager in their absence.

Job responsibilities

Generic Managerial responsibilities both within an operational and strategic context

Provide regular supervision and support to all staff that will include monitoring of caseloads and clinical practice. Supervision will also include reviewing standards of record keeping such as appropriate updating of assessments, care plans, risk management plans and carers assessments.

Act as a member of the Mental Health Management Team and contribute to the development of policy formulation, planning and resource allocation.

Investigate Complaints and Patient Safety Incidents under the direction of the Team Manager and/or Service Manager/Associate Director and in line with Trust Policies.

Lead multidisciplinary/multiagency practice development and service improvement projects.

Ensure that service users and Carers are actively involved in the planning and delivery of services in keeping with the Trust engagement policies.

Performance Management

Ensure that regular audits and evaluations are undertaken to determine compliance with required CQC, CPA and professional standards.

Contribute to the implementation of the Trusts Corporate Plan, Trust Delivery Plan and Performance Management Plan.

Ensure arrangements are in place to achieve all of the teams performance targets.

Communication and Working Relationships

Establish and maintain a professional and effective working relationship with colleagues including external partners such as Third Sector organisations and primary care.

Act at all times in a professional manner whilst respecting and upholding good practice and acting as a role model.

Clinical/Professional/Specific Managerial Responsibilities

Manage and lead the multi-professional teams in the delivery of safe and effective evidence-based interventions.

Deliver a service within the agreed financial envelope ensuring maximum value in terms of clinical and cost effectiveness.

Ensure that a culture of effective risk management is present in the team.

Work in conjunction with the Team Manager, Service Manager, Associate Director and Directors to ensure that targets are achieved.

Ensure continuity of service delivery by working collaboratively with Line Managers and key professionals.

Work collaboratively to ensure that appropriate rota cover is in place.

Allocate cases and monitor practitioners workload.

Organise and chair Care Planning and Review meetings for clients who present with significant risks and who have complex needs.

Organise and chair weekly MDT meetings as and when required.

Lead and ensure the implementation of agreed action plans including risk management plans for individuals with high risk/complex needs.

Contribute to effective communication and liaison within the wider MH services and with other services and professionals including statutory and voluntary agencies and community groups.

Act as Designated Officer for Adult Protection Investigations.

Ensure adherence to Governance requirements.

Ensure compliance with relevant inquiry recommendations.

Ensure service information requirements are met through the production of required statistics and data, also ensuring completion of daily diary sheets.

Report to the relevant Social Work Lead on matters pertaining to the professional agenda and ensure appropriate attendance at the professional Fora.
