Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join our Senior Speech and Language Therapist and SLT apprentice, supporting adults with a learning disability. The post is based at Heath Close in Billericay working with patients in their own home, preventing admissions into assessment and treatment units. The post holder will also be supporting the team offering an SLT provision into the assessment and treatment unit for those patients that require inpatient care- with the aim of supporting discharge back to their community provision . A care driver is essential as the role will require traveling to patients home and day opportunities covering Southend, Basildon, Brentwood, Wickford and Thurrock.
You will be working alongside Nursing and Occupational Therapy colleagues during your shifts, as well as Consultant Psychiatry.
The team operates between 8am-8pm Monday and Friday and 9-5 Saturday, Sunday and Bank holidays (on a rotational basis). You will be given a shift pattern at least 12 weeks in advance.
Main duties of the job
- To assess, develop and implement Speech and Language Therapy Treatments to Adults with Learning Disabilities.
- To be involved in the development and implementation of Inclusive Communication within South Essex.
- To contribute Speech and Language Therapy advice to positive behaviour management plans in the community
.
- To be an active member of the Team.
