Job summary

Senior Clinical or Counselling Psychologist or Systemic and Family Psychotherapist or Psychotherapist trained in Cognitive Analytic Therapy or an evidence based model suited to working with complex needs.

Band 7 to 8a preceptorship will also be considered.

The post holder will provide respected specialist psychological therapy to the specialist community mental health team in Southend. Psychologists and Psychotherapists provide direct client contact in the form of assessment and treatment (providing both group interventions and individual therapy) with people with complex mental health needs. As a highly regarded member of the multidisciplinary team you will also be required to offer consultation, supervision and teaching to other professionals.

Main duties of the job

Embedding psychologically informed thinking and formulation across MDT practice is key to psychological services working in teams. The service is keen to expand choice and accessibility of therapy models so we are particularly keen to receive applications from clinicians trained, or keen to train, in family and systemic approaches or cognitive analytic therapy.

To provide qualified specialist clinical intervention as part of the adult community psychological service pathway in specialist mental health teams. This will include offering assessments, formulation and interventions as part of integrated clinical care plans.

Therapy delivery will be founded in an evidence based model or models delivered as appropriate for clients with complex needs. To offer advice and consultation on psychological care to MDT colleagues and to non-professional carers, working autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team's and Trust's policies and procedures.

To use highly specialised skills to supervise and deliver training to others. To utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research within the areas served by the multidisciplinary teams and psychological services.

Essential

  • Recognised highly specialist formal applied psychology or psychotherapy training to Doctoral or Masters Level or equivalent. To include recognized model of psychotherapy (ie systemic therapy, CAT, MBT, schema therapy)
  • Registered or eligible for registration in UKCP, HCPC.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development in line with the requirements of professional registration

Desirable

  • Further qualification in a specialised area of psychological practice e.g. EMDR, schema therapy, sensori-motor psychotherapy
  • Further qualification in systemic and family therapy.

Knowledge

Essential
