Job summary

An innovative vacancy has arisen for an Occupational Therapist working to co-deliver and co-produce courses and workshops to Thurrock Inclusion Recovery College and to assist individuals in the transitioning from secondary mental health services to utilise Recovery College.

Thurrock Inclusion Recovery College is a partnership between Inclusion (part of Midlands Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust), Thurrock and Brentwood Mind (a local charity), Essex Partnership University NHS Trust and the students of the college. Together, we deliver an exciting and innovative wellbeing service for Thurrock that is free, confidential and focused on supporting Thurrock's communities and residents.

The Inclusion Recovery College is all about providing an educational learning environment for people who experience difficulties with, or have an interest in, mental health and wellbeing. Our courses across Thurrock help us learn what gives us the best chance of staying well and living the most fulfilling lives we can. Our belief is that recovery is a journey of discovery, to find hope, happiness, health and opportunities. All of our courses are free of charge and open to anyone, aged 18 and over and residing in Thurrock, or working in a caring or professional role with Thurrock residents.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will be based within the Inclusion Recovery College, and work to identify Individual Learning Plans and support the co-production and co-delivery of courses identified by the students of the college. However, you will be linked with the wider Occupational Therapy network within the Trust, affording opportunities for development, supporting the wider AHP agenda.

To help students of the college within their recovery journey identify their learning objectives, and help co-produce and co-deliver courses that support them within meeting the identified objectives.

To provide a level of clinical skills and expertise in delivering the Recovery College agenda, in supporting a larger number of people within Primary Care provision in managing their mental health needs.

The therapist will work alongside both EPUT services and our partners. It is important that you are able to work autonomously with partner organisations; supervising junior staff / students as indicated, whilst adopting a flexible and positive approach.

As an individual you will have commitment to continue your own development and actively participate in providing a variety of learning opportunities for students and the rest of the team. In return we offer excellent training and development through our Workforce Development Department and within the service. Support is maintained through regular supervision and appraisal to assist you the successful candidate in setting realistic objectives enabling you in maintaining a positive attitude towards delivering quality customer care. Opportunities to help you continue to develop throughout your carer including a Band 5 and Band 6 development forums, Expert training in the VDT MOCA, leadership training programmes and a wide range of career progression and training opportunities.
