Healthcare Assistant Full Time - 37.5 hours per week Avocet Ward, Saffron Walden Community Hospital
We are looking for an energetic Healthcare Assistant to work within the multidisciplinary team who has a genuine desire to play an active part in the care of our patients.
Please note: This job involves shift work covering day, night and weekend shifts -
Long days, 07.00- 20.00 and night shifts, 19.30- 07.30.

Main duties of the job
To assist in the provision of nursing care (psychological, spiritual and sociological as well as physical), to patients in hospital as a member of the proactive nursing team. Direct care will be delivered to patients suffering a range of problems including: dementia/confusion, falls/fractures following strokes, heart and respiratory conditions as well as palliative and terminal care. To have the ability to recognise and report any changes in a patient's condition and needs.

Patient/Client Care

- Provide escorts for patients and undertake transfer of patients as directed.
Communication Skills
- Work collaboratively with others in the ward to ensure the patients needs are met.
Education and Research
- Develop own skills and knowledge and contribute to the development of others.
- Participate in KSF appraisal review as per the Trust policy.
- Attend mandatory in-service training programmes including: moving and handling, fire etc.
- Fulfil the role of link nurse as required.
