Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (EPUT) has an exciting opening for a Associate Technical Architect to join the Digital Service Development team and support key digital projects delivering against objectives aligned to EPUT's Digital Strategy. EPUT over the next few years are looking to modernise on premise data centre services with fast adoption of cloud first technologies.
Main duties of the job
Act as part of a small team responsible for improving existing infrastructure and explore/introduce new technology, through research, proof of concepts, supporting project implementations including third level support, design, develop, implement and support technology solutions across EPUT. The post holder will support operational teams in delivering world class solutions that are easy to use, bring measurable benefits to the Trusts working practices.
Working with Microsoft cloud technology, Azure/365 and other technologies as yet undetermined. You will be liaising with third party suppliers, contractors, trust staff and project managers. An openness to learning is a key requirement for this role.
The individual will be expected to support project implementation working with applications, the Service Desk or the Infrastructure Teams. This will be in line with pre-defined service agreements but additionally there will be a need to show initiative in assessing the potential impact of new solutions and technology.
The post holder is required to capture new requirements and produce design documentation for existing and new solutions; this will require excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as a high degree of attention to detail.

- Responsible for the planning, development, review, update, upgrade and introduction of major new IM&T systems to meet user requirements
- Proactively liaise with customers and the department about their requirements, identify opportunities for the appropriate and cost-effective investment of financial resources in IT systems and resources including staffing, sourcing, purchasing, and in-house development.
- Work with the Digital Service Development Department to provide technical advice and assure solutions are fit for our infrastructure.
- Develop and manage 3rd parties where applicable, including vendors, technical, project and operational staff.
- Assure other services and system quality, making sure the technical work fits into the broader strategy for health.
- Develop processes, procedures and tools to ensure rolling maintenance and investment is properly planned and carried out in respect of Trust applications. This will consider the lifespan of each application and the steps needed to secure an upgrade, replacement or exit.
- Align and/or streamline business processes, IT and business strategy.
- Liaise with staff across a broad range of seniority and be able to understand and translate requirement, regardless of their IT literacy skills.
- The Technical Architect will work with defined Information Asset Owners and Administrators in the development of a roadmap defining the future development/replacement, integration with other applications, and the development of a Disaster Recovery Plan and Business Continuity Plan. In so doing the post holder will work with all application suppliers and with the Business Services Team on operational issues.
- Take part in detecting critical deficiencies and inherent technological risks across applications and recommend solutions for improvement. In addition, lead the analysis of technology industry and market trends to determine their potential impact on the organisation as well as on the enterprise applications architectures.
- Engage with technology suppliers, market leaders and research new emerging technology.
- Work closely with technical subject matter experts and solution architects to ensure the applications landscape is extensible, tightly integrated and reduces complexity wherever possible.
