THE LAKES, COLCHESTER - ECT CLINIC
We are looking for a Band 7 Team Leader to join our friendly ECT service based at The Lakes, Colchester. The post holder will manage the Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) suite and the co-ordination and delivery of ECT service ensuring it meets accepted quality and safety standards in accordance with national and local guidelines. The post holder will support and work in close collaboration with the ECT Team in the management of the Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) suite and the co-ordination and delivery of the ECT service. The post holder will need to be flexible, approachable, helpful and co-operative with other staff, upholding the ethos of EPUT of good customer care at all times with an awareness of own attitude at all times. Previous experience in a similar health care setting would be an advantage and good computer skills are essential. The role will provide opportunities for you to develop your skills professionally and make a difference to our service users whom require treatment. The ECT treatment days are Tuesdays and Fridays.
Main duties of the job
The post holder is responsible for the management of the Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) suite and the co-ordination and delivery of ECT service, ensuring it meets accepted quality and safety standards in accordance with national and local guidelines. This will include working with all disciplines involved with ECT across the Trust and with external organizations.
- The post holder will have the clinical skills relative to the delivery of ECT. This means keeping clinically up to date; providing guidance and support to service user care in the psychological and physical preparation for ECT, based on evidence and locally agreed protocols and policies.
- To ensure the ECT suite is properly prepared, organized and maintained for ECT practice in accordance with ECT Accreditation Service (ECTAS) standards.
- To ensure regular maintenance of ECT equipment and the suite, in accordance with Trust policy and procedure.
- To contribute towards effective management and utilization of resources within the ECT suite.
- To ensure efficient use of staffing resources in the treatment areas, ensuring staffing levels are safe, appropriate and contain the necessary skill mix at each treatment session.
- To participate in assessment, care planning and review of all service users referred for ECT as appropriate, with the relevant disciplines.
