*An exciting new opportunity has arisen for 3x 1WTE band 6 Clinical Associates in Psychology (PLUS an additional 10% payment) to join our Adult Inpatient Psychological Services Team in Basildon, Chelmsford and Harlow*
The successful candidate will offer psychological input, knowledge and research to reduce psychological distress and to enhance psychological wellbeing on our inpatient wards.
Attached to this post is a Recruitment Retention Premia (RRP) of 10% for 2 years, fixed from the start date. The RRP only applies to the employee whilst they remain in post (and subject to successful completion of the 6 months probationary period/in line with appraisals). We acknowledge that inpatient wards post-covid have experienced increased levels of acuity, staffing challenges and that non-inpatient roles have moved towards some remote working. Our RRP recognises these changes and supports those individuals who are passionate about working in our inpatient wards.
You must hold a Masters in Clinical Associate in Psychology (CAP) qualification in order to offer psychological input, knowledge and research to reduce psychological distress and to enhance psychological wellbeing on our inpatient wards.
Main duties of the job
The Clinical Associate in Psychology (CAP) role is a new addition to the Psychological workforce and supports the wider NHS agenda to develop and expand the psychological provision.
As a qualified CAP in our team, you will provide effective evidence based care to National and local guidelines and will manage a caseload and take responsibility for proactive care delivery decisions, within scope of your practice and under the supervision. The post holder will plan, assess, implement and evaluate programmes of care including 1-1 work with service users and group interventions. CAPs are expected to maintain a compassionate, caring and safe care environment.
Flexible and adaptive clinicians will prosper in this role as well those individuals who enjoy innovative practice.
The main duties of this job involve both direct and indirect work. The post holder will have excellent assessment, formulation and intervention skills as well as an ability to work short-term with Service Users who present in distress.
The successful candidate will be skilled and experienced in working in secondary care health settings and within a multidisciplinary team. Working with and formulating complexity as well as understanding crisis presentations is desirable for this role. The ability to make professional recommendations and risk informed decisions alongside the ward team is key, as well as a passion for partnership and MDT working.

We, the Adult Inpatient Psychological Services team aim to understand the impact of trauma and adverse experiences on an individuals crisis presentation within the hospital setting. We work together with our MDT colleagues and wider Care unit colleagues to ensure our Service Users experience purposeful inpatient admissions.
Working in an inpatient setting allows you to be part of a patients individual recovery journey, working with them directly but also indirectly for example by supporting our staff teams, shaping the service we all work in and developing this further. We are committed to tailor making interventions and care to individuals needs and very much value the clinical and professional development of our psychological services team members.
EPUTs Adult Inpatient Psychological Services team cover 6 inpatient sites across Essex. Each site has a Principle Lead overseeing the area/areas. Our team is comprised of Principle/Senior Practitioners, Arts Psychotherapists, trainees and CAPS. We acknowledge the excellent day-to-day work of our staff team and also pride ourselves on new creative practice as evidenced by recent innovations; such as our Out of Hours access to psychological groups scheme and our nationally recognised staff training packages.
We ensure our staff have access to CPD, reflective practice and peer support. In addition, our CAPs are also supported by a newly created Clinical Psychologist role who is dedicated to the support and development of CAPs in our team.
