Psychological Therapist in Maternal Mental Health Service

Job summary

We are excited to offer this psychological therapist role following a successful bid to provide the Essex Maternal Mental Health Service ( MMHS) which aims to integrate maternity (reproductive health) and psychological therapy for women experiencing mental health difficulties arising from, or directly related to, the maternity experience. This new service is intended to provide specialist care and support to those women and families who needs are not currently being met in other services, including those who have experienced trauma and loss in the perinatal period and who are not eligible for specialist perinatal mental health services.

This service will provide psychology support for families accessing the 5 maternity units across Essex.

Bases are across Colchester and Costal Towns (Tendering, Clacton on Sea, Manningtree, Frinton-on-Sea) and Mid and South Essex (Chelmsford, Braintree and Maldon) for this post. Hybrid working of both face to face and online working is encouraged as well as home visiting when indicated.

Main duties of the job

We are looking forPsychological therapist (Clinical/Counselling Psychologist/CBT Therapist/Psychotherapist) to provide psychological assessment and intervention to womenwho experience moderate to severe mental health difficulties following birth trauma, perinatal loss (including early miscarriage, recurrent miscarriage, multiple miscarriages, stillbirth, neonatal death and termination).

You will workcollaborativelywith the multi-disciplinary team of specialist maternal mental health midwives to provide a specialist, trauma-informed psychological service.

You will work alongside the pre-existing third voluntary organisation such Petals, the Baby loss Counselling Charity, NHS Talking therapies, Therapy for You and local maternity service with Colchester hospital.

This is a great opportunity to develop a service from its start. We are looking to recruit an experienced psychological therapist who has experience of working with people with trauma and/or loss to join our supportive and passionate team.

Thepost holder will be supported to train in and gain highly specialist psychological treatment skills, specifically Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy, and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TF-CBT). Sound knowledge of its application is essential and the post holder will receive further relevant training (e.g. EMDR training).

There will be regular clinicalsupervision from the Clinical Lead/Principal Practitioner Psychologist.
