This is an ideal post for a senior Clinical /Counselling Psychologist looking to develop and expand their leadership skills. For this reason we are offering this post as an 8B preceptorship post in order to fully support someone to take that next step to 8B. We would also welcome applicants with the relevant experience to step straight into the 8B role.
The successful candidate will have a passion for supporting individuals to live well with persistent musculo-skeletal (MSK) pain. They will be welcomed as a valued and active member of this small, friendly, multidisciplinary team. The West Essex Community Pain Management Service (WECPMS) includes a Consultant Anaesthetist, specialist physiotherapists, clinical nurse specialists, and community pharmacists.
Access to specialist psychological input is an essential element of managing persistent pain. The successful applicant will lead on both the direct and indirect psychological care offered by the team. The role is varied and will suit someone who wishes to maintain their clinical skills, alongside offering consultation and supervision. In addition, research and service evaluation are an essential part of the role.
The post is embedded within the WECPMS and EPUT Clinical Health Psychology (CHP) team. The CHP team includes Psychologists in multiple health settings, including Pain, creating a specialist peer support network. You will receive supervision from the Lead for Clinical Health Psychology Services in West Essex.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for overseeing and delivering high quality and compassionate care and leadership. You will be integral in delivering improved treatment outcomes for adults with persistent pain, through providing training, supervision and consultation in psychological skills and risk management, as well as holding a patient caseload for individual and group therapy. You will ensure that the most appropriate treatments are offered at the right times with service-user satisfaction at the forefront of all interventions.
You will work collaboratively with your multidisciplinary colleagues. This will include providing specialist assessment clinics in community settings, and contributing to the fortnightly multi-disciplinary meetings (MDTs). You will also develop group-based interventions utilising evidence-based approaches incorporating Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT).
You will ensure that you maintain the highest possible standards of care through participation in relevant CPD and training.
To fulfil this role, you will be an enthusiastic, creative and highly motivated Psychologist. The balance of direct and indirect clinical work, research, and supervision makes this an exciting and diverse role within a dynamic and dedicated team. - Formal training and accreditation to Doctoral level in Clinical Psychology, or its equivalent for those who trained prior to1996.
