The integrated community respiratory team is an expanding, developing service that provides care 7 days per week. The service provides a diagnostic spirometry service, respiratory virtual ward (RVW), home oxygen (HOSAR) and respiratory service to support local patients with a respiratory diagnosis. We are currently looking to enhance our team with a respiratory physiotherapist to ensure patients receive a multi-disciplinary approach.

The post holder will work as part of the team of trained nurses, physio and assistant practitioners in provision of care and education for those living with a respiratory disease especially around secretion clearance, breathing re-education, deconditioning and exercise This will include basic observations and respiratory assessment, venepuncture, inhaler technique, blood gas sampling. In return you will be supported and developed to learn new skills and undertake further trainingincluding ARTP spirometry accreditation. You will also have access to the respiratory academy for relevant modules to enhance and support your learning.

We work collaboratively with the local acute trust and are part of Mid and South East Essex (MSE) ICB. EPUT values are 'we care, we learn, we empower'.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for helping with the delivery and leading highly specialist clinical care to their own caseload and service within their speciality area for the respiratory service. In doing so, they will assess, plan, deliver and evaluate patient centred programmes of care ensuring that they practice within their sphere of competence and knowledge.

The post holder will work to professional and regulatory body codes, standards and guidance at all times ensuring that their practice is grounded in evidence based theoretical and practical knowledge. They will be responsible for developing new and innovative clinical practices responding to emerging knowledge and techniques and working with other services where appropriate to make improvements.

The post holder will play an important role in the developing of breathlessness hubs and have line management responsibilities expected of a band 7 role. This post is within the established respiratory team in South East Essex.

As the post involves travelling across Southend and Castle Point and Rochford, a car driver is essential.
