Capital Project Manager for the Estates and Facilities Directorate (AFC Band 8a)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and professional individual to join a fast paced and dynamic team that takes on a wide variety of challenging projects.

As a senior member of the Estates Capital Planning Team, you will be responsible for the management of complex high value projects. You will work closely with Senior Managers across the Trust, key users and professional project teams; this is a key position that requires strong leadership, communication and negotiating skills in conjunction with tact, diplomacy and strong interpersonal skills.

You must have a minimum of 5 years proven track record in a senior project management role in delivering complex healthcare construction projects and able to evidence continued professional development and knowledge to post graduate level.

Main duties of the job

A senior post that is responsible for the management of complex high value projects for a large Mental Health and Community Services property portfolio across Essex, Bedfordshire and Luton.

The post holder will be at the forefront of planning and implementation of the most significant capital and other change management plans for the Trust requiring a specialist level of technical works and building knowledge, political awareness, customer focus and diplomacy.

Provide advice on all aspects of Capital Planning, Business Case Development, construction and consultancy procurement and technical planning matters to other Trust staff, directors, and senior managers and to external organisations where services are provided via contract or service level agreement.

Provide leadership to the in-house capital planning and project management officers ensuring that Business cases are developed in accordance with latest DH and treasury guidance and best practice and that all projects are managed to PRINCE 2 principles.
