Job summary

The postholder will contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of the Trust's operational risk management strategy, Health and Safety policy and related work and they will provide the Trust with specialist advice and guidance on Health and Safety matters.

Main duties of the job

To assist in the development and implementation and continued development of the Trusts Health and Safety Strategy.

To promote a culture where managing risk and sound health and safety is recognised as integral to safe and effective service delivery.

To assist in the development and ongoing review of the Trust and directorate strategies, policies and procedures in the management of risk.

To support the H&S Manager with regular health and safety inspections of all Essex,, Bedfordshire and Secure Services premises where Trust staff are working, ensuring compliance with current health and safety legislation, negotiating action plans and monitoring actions are completed.

To visit service delivery units as required, undertaking inspections and providing specialist advice on compliance with health and safety legislation to managers.

To be responsible for ensuring the annual inspection/audit/assessment plans are delivered and reported to the Health Safety and Security Committee.

To design and deliver health and safety training to all groups of staff as required.

To design and develop health and safety training to address areas of significant risk (e.g. Risk Assessment).

Responsible for proposing policy or service changes following audit/monitoring findings. This will involve participation on working parties proposing Trust wide policy changes in all areas of the Trust and all types of policy.
