Job summary
The Associate Mental Health Practitioner will work across the Service as directed to provide and support smooth transitions between teams and a high level of experience for the person in crisis.
The Associate Practitioner will demonstrate robust assessment, risk assessment and management skills and possess sound decision making skills for people in a mental health crisis and will formulate crisis safety plans under the guidance of registered clinicians.
They will demonstrate an understanding of a range of brief interventions and be able to provide robust physical health checks including administration of depot injection or be willing to undertake training to do so.
They will be expected to work under supervision, with adherence to Trust procedures and policies, and to employ value based and socially inclusive practice.
Main duties of the job
To administer depot injections to service users in line with medication administration guidelines, Trust policy and professional standards and guidelines
To provide, supervise, and monitor care and treatment to an identified group of patients under the direction of Registered Nurse.
Take responsibility for the development and delivery of evidence based practice, ensuring that it supports and reflects service user individual needs, Trust objectives and professional guidance.
Contribute to the development of high quality evidence based NMHT services in a changing health care environment.
Contribute towards ensuring that the NMHT functions as an integral part of the Directorate's services.
Effective communication with all relevant personnel both internal and external to the Trust.
To practice within professional guidelines and promote professional practice in clinical area.
To ensure continuous personal development through the utilisation of regular supervision, annual appraisal and training where appropriate.

- NVQ level 3 or equivalent mental health experience
Desirable
