Job summary
To work as part of a team, using standard techniques approved nationally and as part of staff competencies for community services. To support the Phlebotomy Lead and participate in the delivery of an efficient phlebotomy service.
Main duties of the job
To deliver care, in accordance to Trust policies, procedures and guidelines, therefore providing safely carried out procedures and maintaining high standards of care at all times.
To record accurate information to support data analysis in relation to types and numbers of blood tests obtained.
To use EPR and CERNER MILLENIUM or any other relevant information system for the post, to comply with the data protection act andfollow local codes of practice to ensure appropriate action is taken to safeguard confidential information
To undertake any Mandatory annual training in line with Trust policies.
To ensure all stock levels are maintained to ensure a continuing community service without disruption to the clients.
To communicate effectively and sensitively with patients concerning the phlebotomy procedure, with due respect for the patients welfare and dignity. To professionally interact within a multidisciplinary NHS team, with clients and their guardians and carers.
To be able to confidently, discreetly and directly deal with clients infected with potentially hazardous and possibly life threatening body fluids as part of your working practice.
To work flexibly as part of a team and cover for colleagues as required. To work as and when necessary at any Centre with in ELFT trust sites.
To be able to participate in covering a 6 day a week Phlebotomy service that would include weekend working across various sites as required for service delivery.
