Job summary

The Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) - Band 8b is a senior clinical leader within CEDS-CYP, responsible for expert-level care and service development. The post-holder will independently assess, diagnose, treat, and manage risk for young people with eating disorders, working autonomously within a multidisciplinary team.

Aligned with the four pillars of Advanced Practice (Clinical, Leadership, Education, Research), the ACP will:o Deliver specialist clinical care, including prescribing and specialist referrals.o Lead on service development, quality improvement, and research initiatives.o Support the education and development of healthcare professionals.o Ensure integrated, evidence-based care in collaboration with internal teams and external providers.

Working within national and local guidelines, the ACP will exercise clinical judgment to optimise patient outcomes, prevent unnecessary hospital admissions, and support young people in achieving their best possible recovery. The role includes active participation in Leadership, audit, governance, and protocol development while contributing to the Trust's strategic objectives.

The ACP will work closely with the ACD, Service Lead and Consultant Psychiatrist to enhance care quality and drive service improvements for children, young people, and their families.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will:o Specialist Clinical Care & Risk Management - Provide expert assessment, treatment, and risk management for young people with eating disorders, including physical health monitoring and crisis intervention.o Advanced Decision-Making & Prescribing - Work autonomously within clinical guidelines to manage complex cases, independently prescribing (if qualified) and collaborating on medication management.o Clinical Leadership & Supervision - Lead and mentor Band 7 clinicians, ensuring high standards of care through supervision, training, and professional development.o Service Innovation & Governance - Drive quality improvement, clinical research, and adherence to NICE guidelines, safeguarding protocols, and Trust policies.o Collaborative & Recovery-Focused Care - Coordinate and interface with Psychiatric inpatient and day service teams, paediatrics, CAMHS, acute hospitals, and voluntary sector partners to ensure integrated care, empowering patients and carers in their recovery journey.
