City & Hackney CAMHS are excited to be expanding our service and recruiting to a new full time post as a Specialist Clinician for the Mental Health in Schools Support Team.
The Mental Health Support Team in City & Hackney, which commenced in 2019, aims to improve the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people in the community. There is a specific focus on developing more access to help and improving the general culture of emotional support within all primary and secondary schools including special educational provisions and PRU's. Working alongside community partners the Mental Health Support Teams will be fully integrated with community CAMHS and educational settings.
The role will help to develop and deliver a wide range of interventions, projects and system change. We aim to deliver whole school and whole community approaches to supporting young people's mental health. The post holder will supervise trainee and qualified Education Mental Health Practitioner (EMHP) trainees.
In addition to providing comprehensive consultation, assessment, risk management and interventions for young people experiencing emotional and mental health difficulties in special school settings, the post-holder will clinically support of EMHPs/CWPs who will work in a range of primary and secondary schools across the borough.
Main duties of the job
The Mental Health Support Teams are part of an exciting trailblazer project funded by NHS England, Health Education England and partners with the aim of improving the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people in the community. City & Hackney have been successful in being a Wave 2 site benefitting from significant investment in this area. There is a specific focus on developing more access to help and improving the general culture of emotional support within all primary and secondary schools including special educational provisions and PRU's. Working alongside community partners the Mental Health Support Teams will be fully integrated with community CAMHS and educational settings.
The role will include helping to develop and deliver a wide range of interventions, projects and system change with the aim of whole school and whole community approaches to supporting young people's mental health.
As part of this role, if you have not already completed the EMHP supervisor training, you are expected to complete the UCL EMHP Supervisor's training course starting in January 2026. You will need to apply for this course at the same time as applying for this job role and your acceptance to this position would also depend onevidence of previous completion, oracceptance on to the course.
