Job summary

The North Central and East London Collaborative (NCEL PC) is formed of five mental health Trusts; East London Foundation Trust (lead provider), Barnet Enfield and Haringey Mental Health NHS Trust, Whittington Health NHS Trust, North East London Foundation Trust and the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust.

NCEL has a delegated budget from NHSE through which it funds all CAMHS inpatient and alternative to admission provisions for the population of North Central and East London. The majority of this funding is directed into providing inpatient care across NCEL services, however there are a number of placements commissioned by NCEL within other NHS and independent sector providers.

The post holder will be the NCEL CAMHS Clinical Bed manager who is responsible for processing CAMHS inpatient and alternative to admission (e.g. home treatment team) requests from across the NCEL footprint.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for the reviewing and processing of day to day co-ordination of requests for CAMHS inpatient admissions and alternative to admissions services (e.g Home Treatment Teams). The Bed Management service (BMS) will be responsible for managing inpatient bed resources and access to alternative to admission services across the NCEL collaborative.

Provide clinical advice to all referrers from across the NCEL collaborative regarding admission processes.

To receive referrals from NCEL clinicians requesting hospital admissions or alternative to admission services to negotiate appropriate placement taking into account service user presentation, organisational policy and organisation resources.

To liaise with services across the collaborative to facilitate organisation of NCEL resources to ensure the availability of beds for admissions. This will include supporting discussions and decisions regarding transfers between wards and to community services to facilitate new admissions as required.

To work proactively with NCEL services, social care services and other providers to support discharge, transition and contingency plans to ensure bed availability across services in scope.
