EB Psychotherapist

The closing date is 05 September 2025

Job summary

The Dunstable CAMHS Emotional and Behaviour Team is an extremely friendly and professional team forming part of a broader South Bedfordshire CAMHS service. The post-holder will be offering assessments and treatments to young people with moderate to severe mental health difficulties, involving parent/carers, schools and other agencies as appropriate. We work alongside other CAMHS teams that offer more specialist support, for example for clients in crisis, or those with eating disorders or learning disabilities. We also work closely with our growing local community teams which have staff working in schools, GP practices and Early Help teams. The team is made up of: Management and Administrative staff, Psychiatrists, Psychologists, a Senior Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist, CBT Psychotherapists, an Arts Psychotherapist, Systemic Therapists, a Counselor and Mental Health Nurse.

The successful applicant will support clients of the Dunstable CAMHS, providing specialist child psychotherapy assessment and treatment and offering advice and consultation to non-psychotherapist colleagues, families and other agencies from a variety of psychoanalytic, childhood psychosocial developmental and mental health perspectives.

Main duties of the job

The child psychotherapy discipline undertakes generic specialist CAMHS assessments of clients newly referred into the team as well as supporting internal referrals. The post holder will provide a range of specialist child and adolescent psychotherapy interventions as required (short-term, medium and long-term interventions as well as state of mind assessments and inter-agency consultations).

The post-holder will require a high degree of professional autonomy and self-management, and the ability to work well in a team. You will be supported by clinical supervision with our Senior Child & Adolescent Psychotherapist in addition to monthly management supervision. You will have access to a variety of CPD sessions, and annual performance appraisals. You will also participate in weekly clinical discussions with the teams, and weekly meetings which offer complex case discussions and CPD.

About us

Our mission is to make a positive difference to people's lives by improving the quality of life for all we serve. Our values are: We Care, We Respect, We are Inclusive - so we are looking for people who live and breathe these qualities when supporting service users and carers, and in their relationships with colleagues in the Trust and our partner organisations.

This post is based close to the M1 and easily reached by car from North London, Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Northamptonshire. The clinic also has the added benefit of free parking and all clinicians are supported by very dedicated and efficient administrative staff. Most of the work will be based in the clinic when not remote working, but access to a car is helpful. The Trust has an arrangement for 50% discount on season ticket fares with Thameslink, the rail provider, for its staff. A generous relocation package is available if you need to move to access this job.
